Kie.ai lists 18 credits for a 2K image at its ordinary conversion. It also advertises effective prices from bonus-credit purchases; this comparison uses the ordinary rate so a larger upfront purchase is not silently assumed. fal's figure is one image without its optional Search charge. Google bills per token, and its row is the image-output component alone: 1,120 tokens at 2K and 2,000 at 4K, at $120 per million, before input and text/thinking tokens.

## Is 4K more expensive than 2K?

It depends on the service. fal and Replicate double their image fee at 4K, to $0.30; Google's image-output component rises to $0.24; Kie.ai lists 24 credits, or $0.12. SeedRouter Standard charges the same flat price at 1K, 2K and 4K, so a 4K export costs no more than a 2K draft. For a workflow that delivers both thumbnails and large exports, estimate those sizes separately on services that charge more for 4K. Paying for 4K on every draft can multiply costs there.

## What token billing adds to the image price

A token-billed request charges input tokens, text/thinking output tokens and image output tokens separately, so the bill can be higher than a headline per-image figure. Search is another separate variable. fal's pricing text lists an additional $0.015 when web search is used. Our comparison excludes it. Before migrating an editing or grounded-generation workflow, verify its supported fields and charges rather than assuming that a text-to-image quote covers every feature. Using the checked rates, 1,000 2K images cost $90 on Kie.ai, $126 on WaveSpeedAI and $150 on fal or Replicate before any optional extras, and Google's image-output component alone comes to $134.40.
