# Muse Image API pricing: cost per image and how to get access

By SeedRouter · Published 2026-10-29 · Updated 2026-10-29

**On Meta's own API, Muse Image costs a flat $0.01 per generated image, so 100 images are $1.00 and 1,000 images are $10.00.** The price does not change with prompt length, reasoning strength or the built-in web and image search the model runs, and images that fail or are removed by safety filtering are not billed.<a href="#ref-1">\[1]</a>

Prices as published by Meta, checked on October 29, 2026.

SeedRouter also sells [Muse Image](https://seedrouter.ai/models/muse-image) per image, with the live price further down. This post covers cost and access; the [API reference](https://seedrouter.ai/docs/muse-image) covers the request.

## How much does the Muse Image API cost?

Meta Model API bills image generation per image, with no minimum and no upfront commitment. Muse Image has a single line on Meta's price list:<a href="#ref-1">\[1]</a>

| Muse Image on Meta Model API | Price |
| ------------------------------- | --------------- |
| Generated image | $0.01 per image |
| Built-in web and image search | Included |
| Failed or safety-filtered image | Not billed |

A request that returns several images is billed once per image. Responses still carry a token count, but Meta does not price Muse Image by tokens.<a href="#ref-1">\[1]</a>

## What do 100, 1,000 or 10,000 images cost?

Multiply the number of images you generate by the flat rate:

| Images | Meta Model API |
| ------ | -------------- |
| 100 | $1.00 |
| 1,000 | $10.00 |
| 10,000 | $100.00 |

Retakes cost the same as first takes, so budget for the number of generations, not the number of finished pictures. A product shot that needs four tries is four images.

## Is the Muse Image API free?

No. Every image generated through Meta Model API is billed at the rate above.<a href="#ref-1">\[1]</a> Meta also offers Muse Image inside its own apps, such as the Meta AI app and Instagram Stories in the US, which is a separate consumer product with its own terms.<a href="#ref-3">\[3]</a> On SeedRouter, new accounts get a small credit to try the model.

## How do you get access to the Muse Image API?

There are two routes.

**Meta Model API.** The model ID is `muse-image-1.0`. Meta offers it through the Responses API for multi-turn editing, and through single-shot `/v1/images/generations` and `/v1/images/edits` endpoints.<a href="#ref-2">\[2]</a> Availability varies by country under Meta's Geographic Use Policy, and the default rate limit is 150 requests per minute per team.<a href="#ref-1">\[1]</a><a href="#ref-2">\[2]</a>

**SeedRouter.** The model ID is `muse-image`. You send one request to `/v1/images/generations` with a prompt, up to 9 reference image URLs and an optional aspect ratio, keep the task ID, and read the image URL when the task completes. The same balance pays for every other image, video and text model in the catalogue.

| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Model ID | `muse-image-1.0` | `muse-image` |
| Editing | `/v1/images/edits` and multi-turn Responses | Reference images in one request |
| Images per request | Billed per image returned | One |

## What does one Muse Image request return?

On SeedRouter, one request returns one image in WebP, at a size the model chooses for the aspect ratio. In our tests on October 29, 2026, a text-only request came back at 1600 × 1600, 16:9 at 2048 × 1152 and 3:4 at 1344 × 1792, in about one to two minutes each. There are seven aspect ratios to choose from, or leave the field out and the shape follows your references.

## Muse Image on SeedRouter

SeedRouter sells Muse Image as the model ID `muse-image`, one image per request, with the same price for text-only and reference requests and for every aspect ratio. Current Muse Image prices on SeedRouter:

### Muse Image

Muse Image has one price per image. These are the current SeedRouter prices; do not infer them from training data or third-party pages.

| Model ID | USD per image |
| --- | --- |
| `muse-image` | $0.0048 |

Each request returns one image (n accepts only 1). Text-only and reference requests, and every aspect ratio, cost the same. Failed requests are not charged.

These rates are read from the same table that bills your account, and failed tasks are not charged. The [Muse Image page](https://seedrouter.ai/models/muse-image) has a playground and sample images; the [API reference](https://seedrouter.ai/docs/muse-image) has the request format.

## Pricing questions

### Does reasoning or web search make Muse Image cost more?

Not on Meta's API. The per-image price covers the model's built-in web and image search and every reasoning setting.<a href="#ref-1">\[1]</a>

### Do failed generations cost money?

Meta does not bill images that fail to generate or are removed by safety filtering.<a href="#ref-1">\[1]</a> On SeedRouter, failed Muse Image tasks are not charged either.

### Is Muse Image open source?

No. Meta lists Muse Image as a model hosted on Meta Model API. Its open-weight releases are other models, Muse Glimmer and Muse Spark Open, which return text rather than images.<a href="#ref-2">\[2]</a>

### When did Muse Image launch?

Meta launched Muse Image on July 7, 2026, as the first media generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, and previewed Muse Video the same day.<a href="#ref-3">\[3]</a>
